Ali's Big Girl Bed
I originally built Ali a crib and chest of drawers that were intended to grow with her over time - transitioning from crib to kid bed to full bed. The issue I realized was that when I went to convert from kid bed to full bed, the foot board was way too tall for the room. The head board also stuck out a bit too far from the wall. So, I ventured down the path of building her a new bed, salvaging the side supports from the "crib".
In hindsight, I'm very happy with the decision to build her a new purpose built bed. It truly fits the space now, and if someone needs to use a crib (not us!), I now have one available.
The bed is made primarily out of cherry wood with walnut accent pieces in the side stretchers and headboard. The finish is three coats of General Finish Arm-R-Seal.
