Kid's Workbench
I created two Kid's Workbenches during late 2018. They were donated to each of my children's schools for their respective school auctions. One of the tables sold to a family who has purchased a previous donation of mine (see Entry Hall Table). The other was purchased by a nice Denver family with a young son and daughter, who both enjoy spending quality time in the workshop with their daddy. Yes, I purchased my own donation from the auction! I ended up really liking the design and look of the workbenches, and I struggled to see when I would get around to building my own kids their own version of one. I'm quite happy with the choice. It not only made my kids happy, but it also lined the school with some additional capital - used to support a second educator in all class rooms.
The workbench is constructed of material I had lying around the shop: ash, white oak, cherry, and poplar. I stained the base using Minwax Water Based Wood Stain (color is Tangerine). There are two drawers integrated into the bench. Both incorporate hand-cut half blind dovetails - overkill for this project, but I couldn't resist. The vise is an Irwin Tools Woodworker's Vise, 6 1/2". I finished the bench with a few coats of Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish.
