Kitchen Table

The kitchen table (extension table) sits nicely in our kitchen nook. Prior to the creation of this table, this space was filled with two oversized doll houses (one was a standard Kid Craft doll house, the other was a Frozen doll house). Needless to say, this table was a fantastic addition to our house. Not only did it lead to the removal of the doll houses from our kitchen, but it also enabled us to have family meals facing each other. You see, prior to the creation of this table, we all sat at our kitchen island, all facing the same direction - not the most conducive position for conversation.

This table is constructed of rift sawn white oak (not cheap!!!). It is super heavy and stout. I finished it using a multi-step finishing process that really enhances the projection of the wood figure, and sticks with the traditional mission style - Mission Oak Finish.

This table has an 18" extension leaf that can be added for additional seating capacity. I really didn't need the additional capacity (we are a family of four and we have a dining table that seats 10), but it was a fun challenge that I couldn't resist.
