Bike Basket
I ride my bike to my day job every day - spring, summer, winter and fall. When my cruiser bike broke down, I spent a considerable amount of time looking for the "perfect" commuter bike. I wanted a bike that would stand the test of time and require minimal maintenance. What better than an authentic Dutch bike? I found an awesome manufacturer out of Amsterdam, WorkCycles, where I was able to customize the bike to my exacting standards and needs.
For the first few years, I had a plastic milk crate strapped to the front rack, but that just didn't do the bike justice. So, upon completion of the Hutch and Kitchen Table, I had some "scrap" white oak that I could use to build a proper basket - worthy of such a stellar bike.
The basket adds about 10 pounds of additional weight to the front of the bike, but with a fully loaded weight of nearly 100 pounds, does that really matter. The bike itself is extremely unique, for the Denver market, but it's truly unique with the addition of a one off, hand crafted, bike basket!
